Step One -- Success!

Ever since I was accepted into the Columbia program, I have been making summer plans -- what I want to learn, where I want to go in New York, what I will bring with me, for example. I must admit, I did forget about the administrative work that needs to be completed before we can even embark on the summer journey; I had already jumped ahead to step 2 and skipped step 1.

Luckily we have many amazing people who keep us ILC members on track. I would like to thank Mr. Ramsey, Ms. Kronenberg and Don for always keeping us posted. I want to also especially thank the School Board Members Ms. Miles, Mr. Medrano and Mr. Thurmond as well as District Superintendent Dr. Bruce Harter for invariably supporting this program and approving yet another year of the ILC studies. Last but not least, I want to thank Ms. Ishmael for keeping everything organized and easily comprehensible for the students at Hercules High. Thank you all for taking care of the most critical step so that the students can all enjoy a couple of wonderful weeks on the East Coast!

The ILC is definitely a program that is built on the foundation of teamwork. Students should work together and share experiences. Parents should work with students and encourage them to try their best. Members of the ILC work to create great oppurtunities for aspiring students who want to gain insights of attending Ivy League schools. Generous sponsors and supportive district and school staff help to make all of this possible. The ILC is, essentially, one big, interconnected family, and I'm just glad I'm a part of this family -- my family. Looking forward to meeting some of the sponsors at the May 4th dinner and Ms. Miles, Mr. Medrano and Mr. Thurmond at the May 12th School Board meeting.

  1. Thanks Yueming,

    See you soon.

  2. Yueming,

Being the experienced pro that you are, I wouldn't have expected anything less here.

Even when you were a 'youngster' in the program last year you were a standout and now you have a chance to show your leadership skills by mentoring your fellow Columbians and even the other ILC members as they prepare for this adventure.
