Today at 6.30 we made a School Board meeting appearance to thank the District for all their help. Vincent Rhea introduced us and the program to the auditorium full of people. Our chaperones and one student speaker per school gave a short speech to thank the board. We had 3 former ILC students, who are attending Ivy League schools in the fall, speak to us about their experiences as well. Benefactors were introduced and given certificates. It was nice to put faces to people who are supporting us. Last, we took pictures with the whole group and our parents.
Every event like this that we attend I feel more and more a part of the program and a community that supports our education and future. Hearing from 3 ILC alum that are attending Ivy League Schools in the fall was really inspiring and a testament to all the ILC has done in the past five years.
Michelle,
ReplyDeleteWe're reading from more and more of you after this event that you're just now learning what a big deal it really is -- and that's a good thing.
We want all of you, your parents and the world around you to know that the ILC is a good thing for our community and it only makes our community look better in the eyes of the world.
Nonetheless, we couldn't do this if we didn't have top quality students like yourself to do the heavy lifting. We can get you into the classes but it's all of you that have to do the classwork.
