When I was six/seven years old I had the best summer ever. I got to go to art camp and had a blast. Then I went to drama camp and got the lead in the play. It was marvelous, AND I turned seven years old on 07/07 so it was in the stars for it to be amazing. I didn't think there would ever be a summer to top that one. Then I applied for the ILC and another marvelous thing occurred. I was accepted and found out that this summer when I'm sixteen/seventeen I'll be turning seventeen on 07/07 in NEW YORK CITY. I think that summer ten years ago just got topped :-), and I'm starting to see a trend here.
The countdown has started and I am getting more and more juiced as the time comes for us to head off to the big apple.
Orientation was great of course, and it really put a couple of things in perspective for me:
- WE ARE GOING TO NEW YORK!!! and
- I have wayyy too much stuff in my suitcase for me to bring back souvenirs and not go over weight :-D.
I'm working on my suitcase check list to make sure I only take what's needed, and I'm working on fully comprehending that I get to spend three weeks at my dream school in the second best place on earth (Richmond-my home town-is the best place :-P) New York City here I come, and I know I'm going to have a great time with my fellow Columbians and Ms. Ishmael. I hope you guys are planning on looking snazzy because I've been working on my NY wardrobe since January :-). We have sooo much to experience in so little time and we've got the chance to learn about Politics [one of my personal passions] at one of the most prestigious universities in the country. GO US!!!
Beulah, you are getting me so excited! We'll celebrate your birthday RIGHT!
ReplyDeleteBeulah,
ReplyDeleteOf course you're going to have a suitcase problem if you've been working on your NYC wardrobe since January!
Maybe it's just a guy thing, but my big decision would be whether to bring three aloha shirts or just two. I'd only be gone for a couple of weeks so one pair of shorts and a pair of sandals would suffice just fine.
At the very least, Beulah, it sounds like you've got your head in the right place for this.
Don't forget to take lots of photos to share with us.
